In search of himself, his style and vocation, a creative person does amazing, sometimes inexplicable things. And yet he finds what he is looking for: beautiful in the standard, unusual in the ordinary, and art where there were only numbers, calculations and calculations. So, the artist Jill Sylvia knows how to turn ordinary accounting books, the so-called "ledgers", into lace of the finest work. All Jill needs for work is a clerical knife and "office" paper, either in separate sheets or in rolls or in the form of a book. With the zeal of an ant, the girl works on every square, every line, so that in the end we get unusual paper-lace installations, which no one has ever done.
In fact, one can admire only the painstaking work, diligence and perseverance of the artist, who has the patience to pore for hours over dull sheets of paper from old ledgers, turning them into a sieve. But when you see a huge wall, hung with dozens of lace leaves, you involuntarily gasp and smile. Such is it, contemporary art.
In addition to shredding ledgers, Jill Sylvia is engaged in the manufacture of wonderful buildings, as lacy and weightless as the installations presented above. By the way, we have already written about them in the article "The main buildings of America made of paper."
