Regrettably, but the majority of the population of the planet Earth are not interested in books at all as such. Those who are interested in them either write them or read them. And here is the South Korean artist Airan Kang taking pictures of books! But not to look at these photos on long winter evenings, but to create glowing copies photographed books for your project Illuminated Books.
The art of creating light is one of the most visually astonishing arts in the world today. Consider the work of Bruce Munro, who recently created an artificial glowing forest in the Longwood Gardens Park in Pennsylvania. But the Korean artist Ayran Kang recreates with the help of light not natural phenomena, but the creations of human hands, or rather, the creations of human hands and thoughts - books.
Within the framework of his Digital Book Project, Ayran Kang traveled with a camera almost all over the world. And he traveled not in order to photograph the amazing nature or architecture of different countries, not in order to photograph the people living there, but in order to capture on camera the books sold in the shops there.
In every store he went to, he chose a book that interested him and photographed it from all sides, including some of the sheets in it. Later, upon returning home, Ayran Kang made a rubber copy of this book. But not just a copy, but a luminous copy.
Thus, he has accumulated a sufficient number of works for the solo exhibition "Illuminated Books", with which he now travels around the world, presenting it in the best galleries on the planet. Within the framework of this exhibition, you can see hundreds, if not thousands of books, glowing from the inside with multi-colored lights (this is achieved due to multi-colored LEDs inside each book). Moreover, the intensity of the glow and the colors themselves are constantly changing, which gives the viewers watching this exhibition an incredible experience!
Moreover, when entering (or exiting, depending on which side you look at) the Illuminated Books exhibition, you can view the catalog of used books and read some quotes from them, which, according to Ayran Kang, best convey their essence.
