Young Moscow artist Victoria Tsarkova is the author of a provocative series of works under the general title “No Politics. Just a Joke "(" No politics. Just a joke "). For those who decide the destinies of today, and those who, for various reasons, have already left the political arena, the artist has chosen unexpected or quite self-explanatory images. It turned out sharp, topical, but how apolitical …

The exhibition, held a year ago in the Moscow House of Culture "Kalchuga", excited the public a lot. The personality cult was completely debunked: Tsarkova's “satirical brush” went over many things: here are the images of Vladimir Putin with Prime Minister Medvedev with a clear allusion to the film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and Silvio Berlusconi as Mother Teresa, and even Joseph Stalin in the guise of the Terminator … It is noteworthy that none of the portraits had a signature - the artist allegedly relieved herself of any responsibility for obvious coincidences and accidental similarities. In support of this thought, Tsarkova voiced the purpose of the exhibition: “It was important for me to make people smile and just relieve tension.”

Victoria Tsarkova was born in the city of Alma-Ata in 1983. It so happened that from childhood, little Vika was surrounded by creativity: Tsarkova's mother is a musician, grandfather and father are artists. It is difficult not to succumb to such influence: from the age of six, the future artist studied the basics of painting and drawing. This was followed by an art college, an art school, and then the University with a degree in icon painting and lacquer miniature.

Politics, paradoxically, is a fertile topic for creativity. The subtle accusatory satire is close to Victoria Tsarkova's colleague in the workshop, the famous Polish cartoonist Pawel Kuczynski. His illustrations are dishearteningly simple, incredibly witty and highly social. And they cut without a knife.
