Abroad also has its own wonders of nature. For example, in northern Iceland, tourists come to admire a rock in the shape of a dinosaur drinking water. The 15-meter stone creature lives on the coast of Hunaflowi Bay and is called Hvitserkur.
According to scientists, the strange rock is nothing more than the remains of an ancient volcano, the outlines of which have changed under the influence of time, wind and waters of the Greenland Sea, which erode the stone. The word Hvitserkur can be translated from Icelandic as "white shirt", although the white elements that gave the rock its name are common bird droppings. In addition to birds, Hunafloi Bay is rich in a variety of seals and whales.
But what a sight without a legend! According to local residents, the petrified dinosaur is a cunning troll, which was caught by the rays of the rising sun on the coast, and he was petrified. It must be admitted that tourists liked this version more, and since 1990 the rock itself began to show off not only on the Icelandic coast, but also on postage stamps.
There is a unique opportunity to get close to the stone dinosaur. The event can be carried out during low tide. Although, a natural phenomenon harms the rock, undermining the foot of the Hvitserkur. Although the locals try to fight this phenomenon, constantly strengthening the foundation in order to preserve the amazing creation of nature for as long as possible. No less impressive is the Ennedy mountain plateau in the heart of the Sahara Desert, where you can admire not only the natural formations of 120 years ago, but also the unique rock paintings left on the stone by primitive people.
