Donata Wenders uses a film camera and obviously black and white film. “Black and white are ideal colors that reflect the inner essence and mood of a person,” she explains. For Donata, it doesn't matter how well she knows the people she is shooting, but her main principle is to appreciate and respect these people. “My main task is to convey a state of mind, expressed in facial expression, or in a gesture, or in some subtle movement, and if you can convey a fleeting gesture, it is especially pleasant.” Says Donata Wenders. Moreover, she never tells the models how to behave, she does not direct anyone, but simply observes, never imposing artificial poses. This is what bribes her work - sincerity, openness and understanding.
