In one of the famous paintings of the early Renaissance "Altar of Montefeltro", painted by the artist Piero della Francesca, an ostrich egg hangs over the Madonna bowing before the child as a symbol of virgin birth. Known designer Ingo Maurerinspired by medieval painting created chandelier resembling a giant cracked egg.
The creation of creative lighting fixtures is a popular trend in art. Designers are sophisticated in the search for new forms, surprising the world with island lamps, candy lamps or lightning floor lamps. Ingo Maurer created a ceramic table lamp in the shape of an egg back in 1996; today, a long-standing art object inspired the talented German to continue his work and create a whole installation dedicated to this topic.
The giant "egg-like" lamp can be seen at the Brazilian Art Park exhibition center, and was presented this year at Milan Design Week. In 2009, presenting his works, Ingo Maurer already noted that the egg-shaped form is harmonious and beautiful. That is why this element is repeated over and over again in his projects. It is noteworthy that the works are on display in Milan, since the painting “Altar of Montefeltro”, which inspires the artist, is located in one of the largest galleries in the city, Pinacoteca di Brera. The main difference between Ingo Maurer's installations and Renaissance paintings is that, according to the designer, the egg must have cracks, and light must come through them.
By the way, earlier on the site Kulturologiya.ru we already wrote about the creative finds of Ingo Maurer. His installation Lacrime del Pescatore, which is an impromptu journey into the depths of the sea, also looks charming.
