Probably everyone on the planet would like to become a celebrity. Let at least on the street on which he walks every day. It is this opportunity that provides residents Of Istanbul and guests of the city German studio On / Off, who put on one of the sidewalks of this city an installation with the name Kopf kino.
This installation is a fairly large box, standing on the sidewalk of one of the streets in Istanbul. It is powered by a car generator. And, besides him, inside the Kopf Kino there is a camera, a computer and a video projector.
The Kopf Kino installation is based on natural human curiosity. After all, a pedestrian walking down the street and finding on it some incomprehensible structure, which a couple of days ago was not in this place, will probably come up to it in order to carefully study the novelty, to understand its purpose. And when he starts looking at her, his image will be projected onto the wall of the next house.
Thus, On / Off wants to show ordinary people that they are the owners of the streets they walk on. Therefore, they must be responsible for this space. After all, a person is part of the city in which he lives, and the city, in turn, is impossible without a person!
The Kopf Kino installation was first installed by the On / Off studio on a street in Berlin, where it stood for two months. After that, the authors moved their brainchild to Istanbul, where it is presented in the framework of the Biennale of Contemporary Design (Istanbul Design Bienniale 2012).
Different artists decorate the streets of cities in different ways in the evening. Someone projects on the wall a video from the life of an Asian street fast food, and someone images of passers-by walking on the sidewalk! The main thing in this business is the transformation of the night city, turning it into a center of life and art!
