In the famous story "Lefty", Nikolai Leskov tells about a mechanical flea, which Russian craftsmen from Tula broke, but at the same time shod it up. Almost a century and a half have passed since the writing of this work. And nowadays the artist Lindsey Bessanon started production of pseudo-mechanical steampunk insects.
Steampunk is an amazing art that vividly shows people what modern devices would look like if they appeared in the nineteenth century, when the world was dominated not by electronics, but by steam. Examples include steampunk birds from studio Mullanium or steampunk robots from various authors.
Arizona-based artist Lincy Bessanon is also involved in steampunk. Moreover, she began her creative activity as a jeweler. Namely, making gold and silver insect jewelry.
Over time, Lincy Bessanon came up with the idea of adding various strange elements to these crafts, for example, bolts, screws, gears and other similar elements. And so her original creative manner was born.
Moreover, these works Bessanon creates no longer on the basis of gold and silver copies of bugs and spiders, but from real insects, which she dries, covers with paint and varnish, and then turns into mechanical mutants.
Lincy Bessanon sells her works through the online auction eBay, where they are very popular both among steampunk fans and among simply lovers of beautiful, original things.
