Sturdy and malleable wire more and more often it becomes a creative material for the embodiment of the ideas of artists and sculptors, in skillful hands turning into installations, paintings and sculptures. On the pages of Culturology. Ru we have already written about wire silhouettes by artist Gavin Worth, wire sculptures of people and animals by Tomohiro Inaba, wall pictures of Larry Kagan, who plays with wire, light and shadow, and many other similar works. Today we will talk about the artist David Zalben, about another author who creates real masterpieces from wire. Six years ago, having created his first sculpture from wire, David Zalben (David Zalben) could not think that it was she who would make him famous. Not this particular sculpture, although it is called one of the most interesting in the author's work, but all of his works made of wire. Indeed, at one time, David Zalben tried himself in photography, both commercial and artistic, and in painting. But, apparently, three-dimensional works of art turned out to be much closer to him than the rest of creativity, or the public, which is the main critic, treated them favorably. One way or another, today we know David Zalben as a talented author of sculptures and installations made of metal wire.
The first work that was presented to a wide audience was a sculpture called My room … David Zalben created a life-size wire bed with a flower bedspread, a carpet and a bedside table with a night lamp, a chair, a window, a shirt on a hanger, slippers under the bed … He did not even forget the empty bottles on the floor, Sigmund Freud's books and an open pizza box. Taking an idea from Van Gogh's painting "My Bedroom", the sculptor tried to make the interior design in such a way that it had both modern and nostalgic notes. The reaction of the audience exceeded all his expectations: this work was highly appreciated not only by connoisseurs, but also by critics of contemporary art.
This successful work was followed by others. Not all of them are that big, but with the same attention to detail. The author's style of David Zalben remains recognizable even in those works that can be called miniatures rather than sculptures or installations. These and other works can be seen on the author's personal site.

People and animals made of metal wire. The crumbling sculptures of Tomohiro Inaba
Considering the abstract or surrealistic works of artists and designers that we write about on Culturology.ru, many readers express the opinion that the authors of these works are mentally ill, and that is why the plots of their paintings or installations are so dark, eerie and strange.
