Superman, Spider-Man, Batman … We used to think of them as heroes - fearless and immortal. In contrast to this popular belief, Adrian Tranquilli argues that superheroes are human too, and demonstrates this in his series of sculptures, Heroes: The Route of Exposure.
The author based his work on the images of heroes of popular cartoons or films. According to the author, popular characters have become idols in children's fantasies. “One gets the impression that they are still alive and present in our modern culture,” says Adrian Tranquilli. "They have become cultural models laden with symbolic meanings and inevitably influenced by the relativity of their age and irreplaceability." However, sometimes these heroes are hurt, they are wounded and defeated; their human essence is sometimes stronger than superpower and superheroism.
The goal of Adrian Tranquilli's work was to show viewers a different, usually invisible side of superheroes, their vulnerability and weakness. It’s not every day that you see a desperate Batman kneeling or Superman bleeding to death.
Adrian Tranquilli was born in 1966 in Melbourne (Australia), currently the sculptor lives and works in Rome (Italy). Exhibitions of the author's works were held in Rome, Milan, Naples, Dusseldorf, Vienna, Madrid, New York, Stockholm and other cities.
