It is not clear where Inga Guzyte gets so many old skateboards to construct from them. funny superheroes and in general, in every possible way, return us to adolescence with their numerous sculptures, but let's hope that the supply will not run out. Because there should be more creativity rooted in childhood.
Of course, Inga Guzyte is not Batman and Superman is successful - her superheroes are copyrighted and mostly funny. By the way, it would be interesting to remember what else in recent years artists have done from old skateboards? Of course, accessories from skateboards of the fashion brand Beck (y) and various art objects from old boards from the creative duo HARVEST by Haroshi immediately come to mind.
Sculptures can be made from anything from wax to pencils, and Inga Guzyte chose skateboards. Why? Everything is very simple: firstly, the girl gives a new life to seemingly unnecessary things, and secondly, skateboards make her remember her teenage period, when many of us were not interested in anything other than riding a board or a bike.
Inga Guzyte believes that old skateboards - like books: they also contain a certain layer of history and culture. Before making a funny superhero, a heart (of which there are a lot among her works) or some other sculpture, the girl cuts the boards, cleans and processes with sand. Of course, the unique design of each board plays a major role. Then she begins to make something single out of several boards, and this process completely absorbs her, until the appearance of the finished sculpture.
Inga Guzyte's website contains many of her works, as well as links to exhibitions.
