The very ability to ride a skateboard is already evidence of a certain talent. Well, the one who knows how to handle the board even in the workshop is doubly talented. The creative duo HARVEST by Haroshi creates real works of art from old boards that can be viewed from both the skater's and the artist's perspective.
The life of skateboards is pretty short: they break, crack, simply wear out. Therefore, every skateboarder is familiar with the need to buy new boards; at the same time, throwing out the old ones simply does not raise a hand - after all, so many memories are associated with them. The Japanese people Harumaki and Hirosher say that they looked at the mountain of their old boards every day and tried to figure out how to use them. Finally, the decision was made to turn them into stylish accessories - so in 2003, the creative duo HARVEST by Haroshi was born.
The authors argue that their work can be viewed and judged from the perspective of both skateboarders and artists. As skateboarders, they want to be held accountable for the continued use of boards that are no longer fit for their intended purpose. As artists, they want to explore all the possibilities and ways of using old skateboards as creative material.
HARVEST by Haroshi, as mentioned above, originally formed as a duo designing skateboard accessories. However, over time, Harumaki and Hirosher expanded the scope of their creativity. For example, for one of the joint projects with the FTC, they created a helicopter from 100 boards. Also, the authors make volumetric sculptures from skateboards or cut intricate patterns on the surface. Currently, an exhibition of exclusive works by HARVEST by Haroshi is taking place at Tokyo's PLSMIS Gallery.
