People of the East retain with themselves a special perception of the world and a peculiar outlook on life, even living for many years in Europe or in the West. They know how to preserve in themselves the oriental wisdom inherent in their genes, and from time to time to demonstrate to people their rare "dissimilarity" and peculiarity. So, an American artist of Chinese descent, ZL Feng, has been living and working in Virginia since 1986. But his watercolors, reflecting the American nature, are still painted in a truly Chinese style. There is something oriental about them. Thin cobweb threads are combined here with bright blots, which should by no means be considered careless. On the contrary, ZL Feng loves to paint watercolors precisely because it does not forgive mistakes, and the artist needs to know in advance what he wants to see on the canvas, how and where to put the next stroke, where to add shadows, and where - lights.
One way or another, ZL Feng's watercolors are surprisingly airy, like transparent vessels filled with light. The delicate work of an oriental artist, unique style and spirituality are what you feel in these pacifying autumn landscapes.
Despite the fact that since childhood the artist has tried a lot of different means for drawing - oil, and tempera, and pastel, the most favorite is still watercolor. And in the United States, ZL Feng not only received a professor of arts degree, but also became an honored member of the American Watercolor Society. His work can be seen at exhibitions in the United States and China, as well as on a personal website on the Internet.
