Young artist Andy Curlowe is a master of landscape. In his work, he uses the simplest tools, and looks for inspiration in the world around him. The artist himself says that his works are "a reflection of the ever-changing relationship between the natural world and the human world."
The artist works with uniform textures and colors, makes extensive use of the collage technique. The artist's toolbox is simple: he mainly uses paints and pencils. Some of his landscapes contain elements of technical drawings, there are also simplified human figures, which the artist supposedly places on the canvas for scale. Kurlov's philosophy is as follows: “I believe,” says the artist, “that people are capable of incredible things. I strive to always be aware of everything that is happening around. The world is cyclical, full of losses, creation and rethinking. I try to appreciate what has been given to me today and what is left in the past."
Kurlov is from Schenectady, a town in the northeastern United States. He currently lives and works in Cleveland. Andy studied painting and drawing at Montserrat College of Art, Massachusetts. Shortly after graduating from college, Andy Kurlov and his wife Laura move to Cleveland, Ohio in search of affordable housing and a spacious studio.
The sculptor Ben Foster was born and raised in New Zealand. His love for nature and his native land shares him with Kurlov. Foster whimsically complements New Zealand's scenic landscapes with original animal sculptures. “My works are a symbiosis of nature and what man creates. I like to emphasize the fusion of diametrically opposed forces, and, besides, this is an attempt to combine movement and solidified form,”says the artist.
