Amy Dover's illustrations are full of devastating beauty. They seem to be a reflection of the "dark" side of nature. Inspired by the music, poetry and folklore of the peoples of the world, her paintings touch upon the themes of death, deception, weakness and fear. There are cannibalistic crows, a hunted lion, and an angry fox, ready to pounce on a child …
Amy is a British artist widely known outside of her native England. Dover's complex, detailed drawings, made in simple pencil, tell about human passions, animal instincts, and are, in essence, an artistic interpretation of ancient legends, beliefs and legends of the peoples of the world. Through the anthropomorphization of animals, a traditional technique of any fairy tale, the artist opens up to the viewer a new artistic space, a special world, so unlike what the average inhabitant of a metropolis is used to.
By the artist's own admission, her work was significantly influenced by images from her childhood: a village in England where Dover spent his young years, fairy tales and, of course, the nature of those places. Today the artist exhibits widely, both individually and as part of group exhibitions.
A talented artist from Belarus, Lilia Mazurkevich, like Amy Dover, draws inspiration from nature. However, she is more attracted to images of ecstatic women. Ladies surrounded by our smaller brothers resemble forest nymphs who create around themselves a surprisingly light atmosphere, full of harmony and mischief.
