Once an Azerbaijani youth fell in love with a Georgian girl … This novel, worthy of Shakespeare's pen, is described in the work of Kurban Said “Ali and Nino”. And this same novel inspired Tamar Kvesitadze, a Georgian sculptor with an American residence permit, on a sculptural masterpiece that stands today at the entrance to the resort town of Batumi (Georgia). Two huge figures of a man and a woman personify the very same Ali and Nino. That's what it is " Love".
The seven-meter sculptures cost the city 5 thousand dollars, and are remarkable not only for their history and size. Ali and Nino slowly move towards each other, changing positions every 10 minutes, until they meet and merge into one. After that, the reverse process begins, and then everything is new.
It is known that Tamar Kvesitadze has been working on this sculpture for more than two years, and back in 2007 she received flattering reviews about her work at the famous Biennale in the Italian city of Venice.
