A curious picture opens up in front of everyone who drives along Route 40 near the Texas city of Amarillo: ten cars are dug into the ground a little to the side of the road at the same distance from each other. This is famous Cadillac Ranch, and the best thing you can do is pull off the road, pick up a can of paint and put something like “Vasya was here” on the back of one of the cars.
The Cadillac Ranch was created in the 70s of the last century at the whim of the American multimillionaire Stanley Marsh 3. Ten cars of different production years (1949, 1950, 1954, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1962 and 1963) were dug into the ground, while observing an inclination equal to that of the Egyptian pyramids at Giza. Tourists quickly painted Cadillacs with drawings and lettering, and as a result, it became a good tradition. When there is no free space on the machines, they are simply repainted in a solid color - and everything starts all over again.
“Be sure to take a can of paint with you,” says one of the creators of the Ranch. - After all, the purpose of this work is to allow the audience to participate in the work on it. You can just write your name or leave a message that other viewers will either read or erase."
By the way, usually the main color in which the cars are painted is not chosen by chance. For example, twice Cadillacs were pink: once in support of the campaign against breast cancer, the other in honor of the birth of Stanley Marsh's wife 3. In their history, the cars managed to be both black (when one of the creators of the Ranch died) and white (it was in this color that the TV journalist wanted to see them in his report), and yellow (like a New York taxi).
According to Stanley Marsh 3, Cadillac Ranch is a kind of monument to the American dream. For 35 years of its existence, this monument has become an icon of American pop culture: it has repeatedly appeared on TV screens in films and cartoons (for example, in the cartoon "Cars"), in advertisements and just news reports.

History knows a lot of pilots who performed a similar feat, continuing to serve the Motherland even after the amputation of their legs. During the First World War, Alexander Prokofiev-Seversky ascended into the sky with a wooden prosthesis. He became a real hero in Russia, and after that he fulfilled the American dream in exile

In 1989, the first Miss USSR contest was held, and this event caused a huge resonance: many viewers were indignant when they saw dozens of girls parading in swimsuits on TV screens. Then they wrote about the winner Yulia Sukhanova in all the newspapers, but then the girl neo
