As a child, Ana Teresa Fernandez heard the phrase: “men want to see a decent woman in their house, and a woman of easy virtue in bed”; and she remembered this expression forever. And it's true, a modern woman has to combine purity and depravity, innocence and attractiveness. But how do you balance sexuality with doing heavy housework? The artist believes that there is only one remedy - to be a strong woman!

Artist Ana Teresa Fernandez is originally from Mexico. She graduated from the San Francisco Institute of the Arts with an MA in Fine Arts and is currently teaching painting. She paints her photorealistic paintings in oil, revealing the strength, character, perseverance and sensuality of women, which are manifested in their hard work.

As a little girl, she learned about the dual standards that society imposes on women: they have to clean hotel rooms, wash dishes, but somehow manage to remain attractive! Moreover, housework is seen as dirty at best, and at worst is not considered work at all. Only really strong women can save themselves in everyday life, break out of modern stereotypes.

Instead of uniforms on strong womendepicted in the paintings of Ana, dressed in a little black dress - this is an American symbol of prosperity and femininity, but, at the same time, a symbol of the tradition of wearing black as a mourning. Anna's heroines are cleaning up these mini dresses. But not by ordinary cleaning - they sweep the sand on the beach, vacuum dirty roads, wash the floors on the seashore, so the artist tries to emphasize that their efforts are similar to Sisyphean labor: no matter how much you do, it's all in vain.

We have already written about the works of the Spaniard DeAngel and his view of women and their emotions, about many artists who make paintings in the pin-up style, for example, about Valery Barykin, one of the best Soviet pin-up artists. But only Ana Teresa Fernandez paid attention to women in everyday life, with their problems and weaknesses, she perfectly understands how hard it is to be a strong woman in this huge world (maybe because the artist is a woman herself).
