Another week, the last one this month, has come to an end. This means that the team National Geographic I am glad to present to fans of masterpieces created by nature itself a selection of the best photographs for October 24-30.

Cows aren't the only ones with big sad eyes and fan-long eyelashes. In the photo of Roxi Mueller, it is the eyes of a horse that is detachedly looking at the blue sky that attract attention.

The underwater world of the Bahamas is densely populated with a variety of shark species, aided by the large number of mangrove nurseries on the bottom, coral reefs and deep ocean trenches. In the photo by Brian Skerry, a baby lemon (yellow) shark makes its way through mangroves deep under water.

Scientists at Los Alamos National Laboratory are investigating nuclear explosions using 3D simulations. They follow a long tradition of nuclear research that led to the creation of atomic and hydrogen bombs.

A very curious photograph of a seahorse was taken by Mark Mistersar during his exploration of Roatan Island, which is located off the northern coast of Honduras. Moonlight, beauty of coral reefs and clear waters attract many marine life here, to one of the largest islands in the bay.

Kobuk Valley National Park in Alaska is famous for the sand dunes of the Big Kobuk. They say that the dunes here reach 30 meters in height, and according to the artifacts found here, about 10,000 years ago, during the last ice age, ancient people passed through these dunes.

Manatees love fresh clean fresh water. In Brian Skerry's photo, a manatee splashes in the fresh water of Crystal River, Florida, as the spring sun warms it. It is extremely important for manatees to swim in warm water, and this may become impossible due to a number of environmental threats hanging over the water basin of those places that they have chosen as their "residence".
