The originality of Dale Chihuly's work lies in the fact that he refuses to believe in the existence of certain rigorous norms that must be adhered to. This man has been creating stunning glass sculptures for over forty years and, perhaps, the only rule that Dale follows in his work is the denial of rules in general. It would seem a strange formula, but the author's numerous sculptures and installations have been proving for almost half a century that it works no matter what.
“I first encountered glass while walking along the beach as a child and picking up shells and shards of glass from the sand. I was amazed at its transparency, its ability to transmit light, its color … In the mid-1960s, I learned the art of glass blowing and since then have been in love with this process. The combination of these two things (the glass itself and its blowing) still interests me”.

Dale has produced many series of works, the most famous of which are Baskets, Persians, and Seaforms. But the author is best known for his installations in the form of massive chandeliers. Made from glass elements of various shapes and colors, these works by Dale have been shown in galleries and museums around the world and have rightly earned the audience's delight.
Dale Chihuly is an American sculptor with Slovak roots, born in 1941 in Tacoma, Washington. His work is included in the collections of over 200 museums around the world.
