Very often, artists admit that their creativity is based on childhood memories, fantasies, dreams, dreams, hopes … When you get acquainted with the installations of the author Alice Anderson, you realize that her works also come from childhood. Moreover, it is safe to say that little Alice's favorite fairy tale was "Rapunzel" by the Brothers Grimm.
The story of a princess imprisoned in a tower with long hair so sunk into the soul of Alice Anderson that, in the end, she made it a reality. Installation "Rapunzel" is more than three thousand meters of artificial hair stretched through all the museum rooms. From March 2 to April 24, 2010, you can admire the cascades of fiery red hair at the Riflemaker Gallery in London.
“Everything I do in my work is an attempt to say something about my past. - says Alice Anderson. "To do this, I create stories based on memories and objects that evoke certain feelings in me, sentiments that are sometimes very violent." The author considers memory to be a “master of fantasies,” as a result of which, years later, some events from the past seem to us more like a fairy tale than reality.
Alice Anderson was born in London but raised in the south of France. She studied art at Beaux-Arts in Paris and at Goldsmiths College in London. The author still lives in the capital of Great Britain. Exhibitions of Alice Anderson's works are held in France, Japan, Brazil, USA, Austria, Czech Republic and other countries.
