Butterflies - mysterious creatures, heroes of legends, a symbol of dreams and revelations. But we do not love them for this, but for the fact that they are beautiful. Here comes the Japanese artist Eiji Watanabe turned for inspiration to butterflies, and the result of his inspiration was a giant installation room, which is called - " Through the eyes of a butterfly"-" Butterfly's Eye View ".

Artist Eiji Watanabe was born in 1961 in the Japanese prefecture of Aichi, studied at the local art academy, and then, at the age of 40, also at the Edinburgh School of Art in Scotland. He now lives and works in Nagoya City. Eiji Watanabe embodies in art his constant interest in the problem of part and whole, man and crowd - he owns many colorful mosaic installations on these themes. Probably, this somehow echoes the problems of today's Japan, which suffers from a terrible (in our understanding) overpopulation and the conflict of individuality with a powerful tradition.

Howbeit, installation of butterflies - an unusual way of translating the theme. After all, these beautiful creatures have long evoked mystical feelings in humans - in primitive people they were servants of the gods, symbols of love, but most often - living symbols of the immortality of the soul, something that remains after us. It was not for nothing that Buddha delivered his first sermon to the butterfly. The Japanese also love butterflies - one of them is even a symbol of the country, along with the chrysanthemum.

In principle, in all countries, the artistic "butterfly effect" makes people go to their museums - installation " Through the eyes of a butterfly"also a bit like a museum. However, in this unusual" museum "set up at the Gotenyama Arts Center, butterflies are found everywhere - on the walls, ceiling, furniture, even books.

You are probably preparing to scold the Japanese artist for the fact that he mocks the corpses of the winged enchantresses. Take your time: all butterflies are made by Eiji Watanabe from paper! This is one of the central meanings of the installation: how easy it is to make the inanimate look like the living, beautiful and exciting! You just need to turn to natural forms and colors. Perhaps, installation " Through the eyes of a butterfly"furniture and decor manufacturers will take note - imagine how interesting a sofa, chair or tablecloth with paper butterflies would look. Of course, the living would be even better, but they are unlikely to flock to you in such numbers - if you, of course, not a Buddha.
