A flooded church in the Italian village of Graunlocated near the border with Austria is an amazing attraction. The church was built in the 14th century, but in the 20th century the construction of a hydroelectric power station began in the village. Reshen's artificial zero flooded 163 homes and 1,290 acres of farmland, but the church survived. Since then, the spire of the bell tower has risen above the water, and, according to legends, during a strong wind, you can even hear the bell ringing here.
The plan for the construction of the hydroelectric power station was developed in 1939. To implement the conceived plan of the Montecatini company, it was necessary to create an artificial lake that would unite two natural lakes - Reschensee and Mittersee. An entire village was sacrificed to the construction site of the century, which naturally caused an active protest among the local residents. Unfortunately, despite numerous protests, the construction plan was approved, and in 1950 the land was flooded. As a result, many families suffered, to whom the company paid the minimum compensation for the destroyed housing.
Today, the unique bell tower on Lake Reschen has become one of the eminent tourist attractions, as well as one of the favorite places for photo shoots. In winter, the church can be reached on foot as the lake freezes over completely. However, if natural "wounds" healed very quickly, then the pain that remained in the souls of people will live as long as the inhabitants of the village of Graun will live. Despite the fact that the bells were removed from the tower on July 18, 1950, locals still believe that farewell ringing can be heard in winter.
On the site Kulturologiya.ru, we have already repeatedly talked about unusual churches, for example, about a church built of snow in Germany, as well as about a disappearing heavenly temple in Belgium.

Christian analogues of Old Church Slavonic holidays, or why the church could not defeat Maslenitsa and Ivan Kupala
Christianity, introduced in Russia by Prince Vladimir in 988, actually put an end to the development of the solar cult. For a long time the new religion could not oust the remnants of paganism from the consciousness of the people. Some Slavs remained faithful to Dazhdbog, Khors and Perun, others - mixed the two faiths, "merging" their gods with Christian saints, and still others worshiped brownies. Such a term as dual faith appeared, with which the clergy fought for a long time. To "erase" the ancient Slavic traditions, church and St

In Russia, bells were raised not only with trepidation on the bell towers and listened to the "crimson" ringing. They were exiled, tortured, and in the heat of theomachy they were thrown from the belfries, smashed and sent to be melted down. So, the most interesting facts about ro
