As you know, the best friends of girls are diamonds. As well as shoes, handbags and, of course, dresses. If love were measured in this equivalent, then the German Paul Brockman, now living in California, would become the most loving husband on the planet. Over the past 56 years, he gave his wife 55 thousand dresses and chose each one on his own!
The first 10 dresses appeared in the Brockman collection for free. He simply stole them while working at the seaport in Bremen. He gave them to his girlfriend Margot, and then made an offer. Margot's parents agreed to give their daughter in marriage with one condition: the family certainly had to move to America. In the mid-1950s, they moved, although Brockman's own parents were vehemently opposed. However, Paul Brockman, accustomed to hard work, quickly settled in California, began to engage in construction. As entertainment, the newlyweds began to attend ballroom dancing classes, and the loving husband continued to present his beloved with outfits for almost every lesson. In 1988, the Brockmans moved to Los Angeles, by that time there were about 25-26 thousand outfits in Margot's closets.
Paul Brockman's passion for dresses reached terrifying proportions: he bought them every day, not worrying too much about whether they would fit his wife. The main thing is to imagine how Margot could look in the next outfit, and then the caring husband went to pay the next check at the checkout. It is noteworthy that Margot herself never liked shops, because Paul did shopping on his own. One of his most expensive purchases was a $ 300 dress, but Margot never wore it. Needless to say, a similar fate befell many other things.
Initially, Paul occupied the garage, soon he was forced to hire six containers to store this huge wardrobe. He was afraid to admit to acquaintances, he told many that his wife sews dresses herself. He justified his passion by the fact that he did not care what his beloved looked like. Amazingly, even their daughter, Louise, did not know about the huge "treasure". Once discovering a warehouse of dresses, she decided to put all this property in order. She equipped a warehouse, built changing rooms and began inviting people to buy dresses. On average, they manage to sell three outfits a month, this money is barely enough to cover the monthly rent of the premises, which is $ 2,200. Of course, the family hopes to find a client who would be interested in the entire collection, but so far to no avail.
In total, Paul Brockman invested about $ 1.5 million in dresses. Today, his loving husband has long retired, for two months now he has not bought dresses, because he simply does not have money for them. True, he admits that he does not regret anything in his life.
