What associations do you have with the word "landscape"? For me, this is a painting depicting nature, or any area - forests, valleys, mountains, lakes, flowers. And everything is so colorful, expressive, breathing life. But in the interpretation of the artist Minako Abe, the landscape takes on a slightly different expression, combining elements of digital photography and painting painted with paints on canvas.
The creative process of creating Minako Abe's paintings begins with the fact that she enters landscape photographs into a computer. Then, performing various manipulations with the original, the artist distorts the usual scenes of nature, transforming the original image into a magnificent splendor of a wide variety of shapes and colors. Later, broad strokes of paint are applied to the resulting digital painting, which is copied onto the canvas. Smoothly applied layers of bright paint sparkle on the light walls of the Base Gallery, where they are on display for all landscape painting enthusiasts.
I don’t know about you, but when you look at the paintings of Minako Abe, you can very clearly feel the presence of something unnatural, as if after digital manipulations they have lost that liveliness and energy that lives in nature. But, on the other hand, drowning in a sea of warm colors, these landscapes make you think that somewhere there are beautiful unexplored other worlds.
