] The amazing sculpture depicting a flock of flying pigeons is not only beautiful and pleasant, but also very curious. Who, for what, to whom and for what reason gives this work of art? And the fact is that the Arab artist Manal Al Dowayan solves with its help several of its problems. More precisely, not even their own problems. In fact, one in five Saudi Arabia experiences these problems. It is not for nothing that the wings of ceramic doves are painted under postal envelopes not just for beauty - these paintings are documents that give Arab women permission to travel. Every Arab woman, regardless of age, must obtain such a permit to travel abroad from her man.
Carrier pigeons, symbols of peace and freedom, are not just painted to look like documents. These are real, real permits issued to Arab women to travel abroad. The author collected dozens of such documents and placed them on the wings and carcasses of his ceramic sculptures, turning them into winged letters.
Teachers, journalists, engineers, artists, doctors - a woman can work as anyone, but without the permission of her husband she will not be allowed abroad. The traditions and pressure of society in this country are unshakable, they cannot be defeated by an installation Suspended together in the form of ceramic doves. But once again to draw public attention to this issue - the Arab sculptor coped with this task.
