Locals call Singapore "The city of the lion and the temple", because, according to legend, the first to set foot on this land was the prince from Sumatra, who saw Merlion, a mythical creature with a lion's head and a fish's tail. A temple was erected in honor of this animal. Today, Singapore can be safely called the "City of Unusual Trees", as it was recently presented Gardens by the Bay, a high-tech project to create 18 "supertrees" - unique mechanisms powered by solar energy and performing the function of climate control.
Outwardly, these structures are not so much like real trees, but like some fantastic plants, abandoned to us from another planet. Their dimensions are truly impressive: the height ranges from 25 to 50 m! In fact, these "trees" function like living organisms: during the day they accumulate light energy, and also collect rainwater, and at night the accumulated resources are enough for the supergiants to "light up" themselves. The collected water is used for irrigation and is also supplied to the installed fountains. In addition, the Garden Rhapsody music and light show is held here in the evenings.
Iron "tree trunks" are decorated with real plants (exotic ferns, lianas and orchids), so they look green and lively enough. At a height of 25 meters, there is a special walking path for visitors to this unusual grove. A picturesque view opens up from here, and the air is striking in its purity and pleasant coolness. The implementation of this fantastic project required not only great skill and painstaking work, but also a significant investment. Today it is valued at more than $ 1 billion.
