Like all artists, people who collect objects from the constructor Lego, if their beginners, amateurs, professionals and even real stars of this business. The artist belongs to the latter. Sean Kenneywho created a series of works with the most famous objects of the central part New York.
We have already talked about the work of Sean Kenny on the website Culturology. RF. Let us remind you that it is he who is the author of the exhibition "Living things: a zillion pieces of animal diversity", which is a series of life-size animal figures created from elements of the LEGO construction set.
A new series from Sean Kenny is dedicated to New York, the spirit of this city, expressed in architecture and street life. Using hundreds of thousands of LEGO bricks, the artist has created many of the objects that are iconic for the Big Apple.
Among these works by Sean Kenny are the incredibly detailed skyscrapers of the Empire State Building and Trump Tower, the New York Zoo, Times Square with buildings, cars (the famous yellow taxis), pedestrians, green spaces and even hot dog carts on it.
Each of these objects consists of thousands, if not tens of thousands of LEGO bricks. For example, the above-mentioned four-foot (about 1.2 meters) copy of the Empire State Building is made of thirteen thousand cubes, and the stadium of the New York Yankees team is made of forty-five thousand (while in its stands, the author of the work seated 1,700 toy LEGO-men).
Of course, every piece of LEGO art like this takes a lot of time to create! For example, it took Sean Kenny about 300 hours of work to create a toy replica of Times Square! Such perseverance is rarely found in the modern world, where time moves very quickly and intensely!
Kenny's creativity does not go unnoticed! His work has been featured in media giants such as The New York Times, BBC News and Good Morning America. He collaborated with the largest companies and reputable institutions in the world - Google, Empire State Building, Philadelphia Zoo, Nintendo.
