The amusement park Kulturpark Plänterwald was built in East Berlin in 1969 and during the existence of the German Democratic Republic was one of the most popular objects in the country, where children and adults from all over East Germany dreamed of taking a walk.

However, with the unification of the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic, Kulturpark Plänterwald could not withstand competition with parks and other entertainment facilities of the "western model" and as a result soon became completely empty, overgrown with grass and bushes.

The process of destruction continued until a group of German, British and American artists drew attention to it. They decided to give new life to the old park, turning it into a modern art space Kulturpark, which will combine the culture and aesthetics of the past and the present.

To begin with, these artists documented the state of the Kulturpark Plänterwald at the time of their arrival. This condition itself, in their opinion, is sufficient to consider the entire object described as a work of art. After all, withering has its own beauty.

Nevertheless, by the end of this year, the Kulturpark Plänterwald will acquire a new face: it will be cleared of garbage, rid of excess vegetation, new art objects (sculptures and installations), as well as venues for art events (concerts, exhibitions, meetings, seminars, lectures, etc.) Moreover, most of the current objects of the park will remain in their places in order to emphasize the continuity of the old and the new, to preserve the aesthetics of the environment and the spirit of socialist East Germany, which is perfectly preserved in the Kulturpark Plänterwald.

It must be said that Kulturpark Plänterwald is not the only strange amusement park in Germany. Let us recall, for example, an amusement park organized at an unfinished nuclear power plant in the city of Kalkar.
