Video: "I want to play with forms always." Geometry and Art by Richard Sarson

Geometric works by Richard Sarson hypnotize and fascinate, make you examine yourself and peer into the intricate interweaving of lines over and over …
Although most of Richard's drawings consist of hundreds of intersecting circles, the author himself claims that he never deliberately aimed at depicting this particular shape. All his works have a clear structure and the artist believes that, first of all, viewers pay attention to the work as a whole, and not to the elements that make up it. At the same time, Richard does not deny that he considers the simplicity of the circle to be beautiful: "It is something incredible to draw a line and return to the very place where you started."
However, according to the author, sometimes the lines drawn with a ballpoint pen seem too rough and obvious. Therefore, in addition to drawings on paper, Richard Sarson also carried out several experiments with volumetric images, creating a number of works from threads stretched over pins. One of the advantages of such works is that at any time you can rewind the thread back into a ball and redo the unsuccessful part of the work, while when drawing on paper, one awkward movement can nullify all the work.
“Forms are what I live for,” says Richard Sarson. - I love forms, their sensation, smell and taste; their sharpness and smoothness; disillusionment with their abstract personality; admiration for their ability to surprise and convey what we cannot express in words. I love small and large shapes, complex and simple. I want to show people in my works how wonderful they are. And in this delightful confession is all of Richard, all of his passion.
Richard Sarson is a graphic artist based in London. He holds a BA and MA from the Royal College of Art (London).
