Video: Tandem of glass and metal in sculptures by David Bennett

Aerial acrobats perform dizzying stunts, a horse rushes forward, and gymnasts do something unimaginable with their bodies … You don't have to go to the circus to see all this. You can visit the museum or creative studio of David Bennett, where the above objects are embodied in glass and metal.
David Bennett argues that for many centuries people have been using glass and metal in their work, so he did not come up with something revolutionary new, but only develops well-known technologies and takes them to a new level. “I create intricate sculptural shapes out of glass and bronze that cannot be made from each of these materials individually,” says David.
First, David Bennett creates metal frames, inside which he then blows glass figures. As a result, metal gives the sculpture strength and stability, while glass adds lightness. In the middle of each figure, the author places LEDs that provide illumination and flickering of the sculptures from the inside. According to David, this move gives all the work a completely new dimension.
The fate of David Bennett is no less interesting than his work. He served in the US Army, was a lawyer in the 1970s and 1980s, and in the early 90s, at the celebration of his own 50th birthday, he met a glassblower, a conversation with whom began a new stage in David's life. Since then, for almost 20 years, the author has been engaged in creative work, creating his amazing sculptures and by his own example proving to us that it is never too late to change your life and discover talent in yourself.
David Bennett was born in 1941 in Oregon, and currently lives in Kefri (Arizona), then in Seattle (Washington), where his studio is located.
