Many people like the paintings of the artist Gregory Thielker not only for their realism and such high-quality execution that it is difficult to distinguish them from photographs, but also for the fact that they take us to another temporary space and place of action. Viewing Gregory Tilker's paintings reminds us of traveling by car on a cold, rainy day.
Gregory Tilker paints his realistic canvases with a brush using watercolor and oil paints. He knows how to capture the everyday beauty of an ordinary rainy day, and he does it admirably. Car parks, highways, city roads - this is what we can observe when looking at the world through a foggy, rain-covered car window.
The artist's latest works explore the feeling of contemplating the outside world from the window of a moving car. You experience a true delight from the constantly changing landscapes, as well as from how the artist conveyed the movement of water droplets on the windshield and how they are in harmony with the landscape. The image slides and shrinks, shapes and colors merge, intertwining with each other. The brush master also harmoniously conveyed the relationship between plane and illusion.
Gregory Tilker was born in New Jersey in 1979 and lived and worked in Watertown, Massachusetts. Studied art history at Williams College and painting at Washington University in St. Louis. Moving to Boston was an important change for him, allowing the artist to focus on depicting cityscapes.
