Heinrich Heine once remarked: "The first who compared a woman to a flower was a great poet." In different cultures of the world, women and flowers are inseparable, because what else, if not a luxurious bouquet, can serve as a real decoration for a beautiful lady. Lim Zhi Wei Is a talented modern watercolorist who creates charming drawings: on them you can see sophisticated young ladies dressed in … flower petals.

The idea of “replacing” a dress with flowers and leaves is not new. Readers of the site Kulturologiya. RF will probably remember such bold experiments of the Malaysian artist Tang Chiew Ling and the Singaporean designer Grace Ciao. By the way, Lim Zhi Wei herself is also from Malaysia, and now lives in Singapore, so it can be assumed that the creation of "floral outfits" is a real trend in modern oriental culture.

Orchids, roses, hydrangeas, carnations, calla lilies and chrysanthemums - what kind of flowers are not in the collection of Lim Zhi Wei. Petals organically complement minimalistic female images: in the artist's paintings you can often see a refined profile, a curve of the back, a neatly gathered hairstyle. Lim Zhi Wei does not draw facial features, so we have almost airy young ladies, "either girls, or visions."

The artist recalls that the “flower” project began spontaneously: once she prepared a gift for her grandmother for her birthday in the form of a bookmark for books, on which she painted a girl in watercolors, and instead of a dress she used dried rose petals. The idea turned out to be so successful that the craftswoman soon created a whole series of charming miniatures. By the way, more of Lim Zhi Wei's works can be seen on her personal page on the Internet.
