We are all so different: we speak different languages, live in different countries, smile, laugh and cry in different ways … And yet there is a universal language that helps to achieve mutual understanding between people without requiring the help of an interpreter - the language of creativity, art, and no matter painting, sculpture, installation or music. For an Asian artist Woon Lam Ng paint and brush have become such an ideal verbal tool that helps to communicate with people from different countries, religions and political groups, regardless of their age, education and gender. And the artist tells them about everything that he sees around him, and he does it so eloquently and succulently that he is already called a virtuoso cityscape and genius watercolor painting … Wun Lam's development as an artist was very entertaining. So, he himself is from Malaysia, he received a specialized education in the United States, but not at all American, but Singaporean artists, the young painter preferred to inherit, learning skills and gaining experience. Today, his painting style is based on Chinese calligraphy, which distinguishes Wun Lam's watercolor landscapes from other artists in this genre.
Transparent, delicate, incredibly light watercolor obeys the strokes of the artist's brush, and obediently lays down on the canvas in the form of short and frequent strokes. Bright and precise touches bring dynamics to Wun Lam's cityscapes, and the color palette, the choice of the plot and the subtlety of the watercolor itself add to them that dreamy and romantic mood that can be found only at dawn in early and warm autumn. However, there are others among his paintings: juicy and deep, created not to lull and soothe, but to invigorate, ignite, inspire new victories and achievements. Behind each such picture - cities and countries with their own flavor, traditions and rhythm of life, and in them - real images, people, destinies …
Today, the artist is 41 years old, lives and works in New York, is a member of the National Watercolor Society (NWS) and the American Watercolor Society (AWS), as well as an MA in figurative painting from the New York Academy of Arts. His paintings are in private collections of contemporary painting, as well as in major museums and galleries of contemporary art. More information about the work of Woon Lam Ng - on his website.
