If there was a list of literary works that most often inspire authors to create certain works of art, then "Alice in Wonderland" would certainly take one of the prizes in it. We have already written about the work of the artist Mark Ryden and the photographer Elena Calis, who create their works based on the immortal tale of Carroll. Our today's story is about a designer whose jewelry could well have been created in Wonderland for the young dreamer Alice.
"Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" is Alidra Alic's contemporary jewelry series. It is based, according to the author, on the floral motifs that she found in the aesthetics of the late 1800s. That is, these motives are reflected in the culture and art of the very period when the story of a curious girl who fell into a rabbit hole was created. “I interpret this literary work into my own concept and illustrate it with contemporary jewelry,” says the designer.
To create her collection, Alidra Alik used her own invented techniques to create hundreds of plastic molds - it took her about six months. The jewelry is mainly made of plastic, but the designer also used additional materials: river pearls, precious stones, as well as gold and silver.
Of course, the rings presented in this article are not suitable for everyday wear: they do not differ in functionality, and they attract the attention of others. But if suddenly you are going to have a crazy tea party, then you should know - you will not find a more suitable place to showcase fancy decorations!
Alidra Alik lives and works in Copenhagen. The fact that her works are more works of art than just jewelry is evidenced by the fact that they can be seen more often at exhibitions and galleries than on the graceful fingers of fashionistas. Although some, according to the author's assurance, dare - and then they certainly feel not just Alice, but Queens!
