Video: Dreamy Anatomy by Rachel Wright

Maybe the designer Rachel Wright was so bored in school anatomy lessons that as an adult, she decided to revive and diversify the boring process of studying internal organs? After all, the clothes that Rachel creates now will successfully compete with any textbook.
“We all have a body,” says Rachel Wright, “but few people spend their time studying what is under our skin. For centuries, doctors and artists have tried to comprehend the complex system that is hidden inside each of us. Early anatomical illustrations were often a mixture of right and wrong assumptions. And artists often give preference to metaphor rather than believability."
The Dream Anatomy collection explores the imaginary reality within the human body. Since it is assumed that these items of clothing will be worn by people, there is a blurring of the boundaries between the inner and outer worlds. The invisible becomes visible: what is inside a person, he wears outside. Rachel Wright creates mainly women's pajamas and nighties, so her outfits are not meant to be shown to the general public. “I'm playing with the boundary between the public and private spheres,” says the author.
An interesting fact is that to create her anatomical outfits, Rachel Wright does not use new fabrics, but second-hand clothes. According to the designer, used things are always accompanied by a special emotional touch, which new things do not have. In addition, Rachel uses old clothes also because our own bodies also contain various life marks - both internal and external.
Rachel Wright holds a BA in Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Now she works mainly in the genre of sculpture, combining glass, clay, metal, wood, fabric in her works. Also, the author is fond of photography.
