Fabio Viale is a talented Italian sculptor who creates his works from … at first glance, from anything. Styrofoam, rubber, paper … It seems that Fabio has not yet found his ideal material. It seems exactly until the moment when we learn that in fact all the sculptures of the author are made of marble and only from it.
On the one hand, Fabio Viale is an ordinary sculptor who uses such traditional material as marble to create his works. On the other hand, if you do not know what the author makes his sculptures from, then guessing about it is very, very difficult.
The originality of Fabio Viale's work lies in the fact that when creating his marble sculptures, he imitates completely different materials. For example, La Gioconda seems to be cut out of a piece of foam, and airplanes float in the air like paper ones. It's hard to believe that something like this can be created from a block of marble!
Another unusual work of the sculptor is a motor boat carved from a single piece of marble. It may not be of particular artistic value. But then she … swims! Contrary to all the laws of nature. The boat can carry up to 8 people, and keeps on the water, according to the author's assurances, thanks to the very thin walls - 2-3 centimeters. The vessel was launched only a few times, in the summer of 2009 it happened in St. Petersburg.
Fabio Viale was born in 1975 in the Italian town of Cuneo. The sculptor now lives and works in Turin. You can see other works of the author on his official website.

Marble not like marble. Unusual sculptures-illusions by Fabio Viale
The once fashionable decor "under a tree", "under a stone", "under a marble" is no longer interesting. But to "disguise" real marble as foam, rubber, fabric, paper or wood, so that people have an irresistible desire to touch this or that work, in order to make sure with their own hands what they are made of - this is already a talent that you can't hide anywhere.
