Once upon a time, the ancient people used the fur and skins of wild animals in order to protect themselves and their tribe from the cold. Austrian Markus Leitsch uses moss for his art. An exploration of the human body in an installation by this innovative Austrian artist.
Markus Leitsch uses animal skins and fur for a number of studies on the human body. In works called “wool,” Leitsch uses a resin-coated cow hide to create a model of his body lying on the floor.
Quite a strange thought, isn't it? Markus explains it this way: now in many houses in the world there is a blanket made of cow hide lying on the floor, and he used the hides to cover the human body as they once covered the cows, instead of just throwing them on the floor.”Something similar happens, only they do not serve as a shelter for the body, but cover it completely, turning into a second human skin.
Quite strange manifestations of the creative beginning of human research, and, nevertheless, it is quite original, especially since there is nothing to be surprised at within the framework of post-modernism. Now Markus Leitsch works and lives in Vienna.
Some of his other works can be viewed on his website. There is also his e-mail, and you have the opportunity to personally ask him about the essence of these works.https://markus.leitsch.at/
