Cynics will probably grumble that rain and autumn are not romance at all, but a gloomy and slushy time, when you just want to sleep and eat, and wrap yourself in a warm blanket, hiding from the cold and dampness. But you and I know that "there is an initial short, but wondrous time in autumn", and that no one other than poets and artists can better convey the same lyrical mood for which romantics love autumn. There are enough such paintings in the painting of a modern artist. Bob Barker … Rain and umbrellas, puddles on the cobbled streets, night and lanterns, lyrics and memories … All this was born on that memorable day when the artist was 12 years old, and his mother gave him an oil painting kit. Since then, the easel and paint with brushes have been Bob Barker's constant companions. And in Cornwall, where Bob spent some of his youth, he was fortunate enough to meet two talented artists, Keith English and Tom Gower, and watch them work for hours. And this, according to Barker himself, greatly helped him grow professionally.
By the way, the artist himself does not deny the presence of another mood in his paintings: nostalgic. He called this series of works "Hearts and Dreams", and dedicated them to his native Yorkshire, where he was born and raised, where his family remained. "When I am haunted by nostalgia for home, I sit down at my easel and look back in time. In all these pictures are the very cherished memories and inspiring words of my grandmother," says Bob Barker.
However, this artist draws not only autumn nostalgia in burgundy-red tones. Other work by Bob Barker can be viewed on his website.
