Experimenting with food in art is nothing new. Sarah Kaufmann, for example, turns cheddar heads into sculptures, and Ximena Escobar paints pictures on toasted slices of bread. However, our today's hero, Thomas Rentmeister, does a much simpler thing: he simply pours grocery mountains in the middle of the exhibition halls, claiming that these are reflections on the topic of consumerism.
No matter how hard individuals try to fight this, so far we all live in a consumer society. And we often consume much more than we actually need, which is what the German author shows in his installations. You can also interpret his work in another way: for example, a mountain of ground coffee or sugar shows how much of these products one person consumes in his entire life, and this again sends the viewer to the question of consumerism.
Although the idea behind Thomas Rentmeister's installations is the same, some of them are more successful: for example, a pool of potato chips or a shopping trolley drowned in sugar looks much more interesting than just a puddle of chocolate from Nutella on the floor. If the first works really encourage thinking on the topic of excessive consumption, then the last work for some reason does not cause anything except thoughts about a wasted spoiled product.
Thomas Rentmeister was born in 1964 and lives and works in Berlin. Since 2009 he has been a professor at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig. Among the cities where exhibitions of the author's works were held - Cologne, Berlin, Utrecht, Amsterdam, Dortmund.

The mysterious accident of Grace Kelly, the death of Prince Frizo in the mountains and other sad stories in the royal families
Surely each of us at least once dreamed of becoming a member of the royal family. After all, it seems that monarchs, possessing a special status, can afford everything. However, few people think about the fact that those, in whose veins blue blood flows, often perceive their origin not as a gift of fate, but as a punishment. After all, titles give not only privileges, but also reward responsibilities that, alas, not everyone is ready to fulfill. In addition, monarchs also cry, because status cannot protect them from not
Mountains of trash or art? Installations by Portia Munson
All installations by Portia Munson are made according to the same principle: the author collects many objects, united by a common idea, and simply piles them up or puts them in a certain order. By and large, these are mountains of rubbish. But then why is this rubbish not in landfills, but in exhibition halls?

Edible clothes and edible pencils, inedible but mouth-watering decorations and embroidered food do not just tell us, they shout to us that people who previously wanted bread and circuses have learned to combine these two desires into one, so much so that sometimes you wonder. Photos by John Fowler: only mountains can be better than mountains
Landscape shots by John Fowler are striking in their grandeur and color. The main motto of the photographer is short and laconic "light in nature", and all because John Fowler loves to catch the sun's rays through the lens, playing on spring greenery, mountain slopes, scallops of streams and waterfalls. The master's portfolio is so large that the finished pictures can be viewed for hours. We will save our readers' time and introduce them to photographs of mountainous terrain. After all, "only mountains can be better than mountains"
Twinkie Chan and her handmade grocery knitting
In addition to the proteins, fats and carbohydrates necessary for people, food contains another useful substance. It is called inspiration, and it visits not every gourmet or glutton, but only those who are predisposed to the perception of this substance at the proper level. In this case, food appears before us in a variety of images and forms. For example, in the form of clothing and accessories
