Surely each of us at least once dreamed of becoming a member of the royal family. After all, it seems that monarchs, possessing a special status, can afford everything. However, few people think about the fact that those, in whose veins blue blood flows, often perceive their origin not as a gift of fate, but as a punishment. After all, titles give not only privileges, but also reward responsibilities that, alas, not everyone is ready to fulfill. In addition, monarchs also cry, because status cannot protect them from adversity and tragedy. Consider some of the most dramatic chapters in the history of royalty.

Nepalese prince who shot the whole family

One of the problems that monarchs periodically experience is the inability to connect their lives with those with whom they want. How can you not remember the story of Charles, who loved Camilla all his life, but married Diana. Although in this case there are also precedents (take at least Prince Harry and Meghan Markle). But now we are not talking about the main family of Great Britain, but about the tragedy that happened in distant Nepal in 2001.

It would seem that on that day nothing terrible boded. The entire royal family gathered for dinner. What made Crown Prince Dipendra take up arms and shoot the entire family (including the father-king and the non-claiming sister) is still hotly debated.

According to the official version, the cause of the massacre was alcoholism and the wayward character of the heir. Allegedly, the prince wanted to marry a girl from a noble, but competing for the throne family. However, when he heard a refusal, he drank too much and decided to get rid of all his relatives, and then he shot himself.

The new ruler of the country was the brother of the slain king Gyanendra, who was not present at the dinner, which turned into a massacre. He promised to understand the situation and explain why the tragedy happened. However, its official version is given above.

However, the subjects did not believe the new king. After all, it is very strange that on that very day he was not at dinner. In addition, before that, he did not hide the fact that he would like to rule the country. The people decided that Gyanendra was the organizer of the crime, and they blamed all the blame on Dipendra, who also fell victim to his uncle's ambitions. This was one of the reasons why a civil war broke out in Nepal, which led to the fact that the 240-year-old dynasty fell.

The tragedy of Princess Diana

We have already said above that representatives of royal families often cannot choose their life partners. Some put up with this fate, while the fate of others turns into drama. You don't have to go far for examples: one of the most famous "unloved" wives was Diana Spencer, who deserved the title of "queen of human hearts", but never managed to get simple female happiness.

History does not tolerate the subjunctive mood, and therefore it is too late to think about what would have happened if Diana and Charles had not got married. It is known that the prince was always in love with Camilla Parker-Bowles, but at the insistence of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, he married Miss Spencer. However, from the very beginning, Diana realized that her husband would never love her, and she would feel lonely in a large royal family.

Already pregnant with the first child, William, the princess made the first suicide attempt, and then there were mutual betrayal, scandals, candid interviews and, finally, a high-profile divorce.

It would seem that after the dissolution of the marriage, the personal lives of both ex-spouses improved: Charles was finally able to be with his Camilla, and Diana began dating the Egyptian billionaire Doddy al-Fayed. But the former princess was never destined to become happy: in August 1997, the lovers died in a car accident in Paris. The driver, who was allegedly drunk, was found guilty of the tragedy. The theory that Elizabeth II did not want her grandchildren to have an Egyptian stepfather is still one of the most popular. However, for more than 20 years, many Britons have been convinced that the intervention of the British special services has not been done here.

The death of Grace Kelly

Another "people's" princess also died in a car accident, and her death still raises many questions. And one of the most popular assumptions is that her 17-year-old daughter Stephanie was to blame for the death of Grace Kelly.

According to the official version, in September 1982, when the former actress was driving, she suffered a stroke, and instead of pressing the brake on the gas, she drove the car straight into the abyss and fell from a height of more than 45 meters. In addition to the princess, her daughter was also in the car. She was able to get out of the vehicle and her mother died from her injuries the next day.

The fact that Stephanie escaped death cannot be called anything other than a miracle. But it was precisely the fact that she remained alive that raised many questions. The matter was complicated by the fact that the accident occurred on the border of France and Monaco, and the police of both countries expressed opposite opinions. So, according to one of the versions, Grace was allegedly found in the back seat, and Stephanie in the front. It was also said that Kelly had previously complained that her daughter was addicted to extreme driving. In addition, it was strange that both passengers were not wearing seat belts, but the cautious princess always treated such issues responsibly.

In order to finally dispel the rumors about her involvement in the death of her mother, in 2002 Stefania gave interviews to several publications and once again assured that she was not to blame for anything. True, and this time few believed her.

The tragedy in the mountains of Prince Frizo

Prince Friso of Orange-Nassau with his wife

Prince Friso of Orange-Nassau was the second son of the Dutch queen Betariks and could well claim the throne. True, the heir did not really want to rule the country and built a completely ordinary, but successful career: he became vice president of one of the banks, and later opened his own business. And the man chose his life partner "from the people" - human rights activist Mabel became his chosen one. Simultaneously with the marriage, Friso renounced his claims to the throne, preferring a quiet family life, especially since he soon became the father of two daughters.

But the trouble came unexpectedly. The former prince loved outdoor activities and once at one of the ski resorts fell under a strong avalanche. He was pulled out from under the snow after 15 minutes, but this time was enough for the brain, deprived of oxygen, to be damaged. Friso was in a coma for a month and a half and died without regaining consciousness.

Suicide of Prince Ernst and Princess Sabina

In 1996, a local farmer, while walking around the south of Germany, noticed a white Mercedes, in the cabin of which something strange could be seen. Police officers who arrived at the scene found two bodies in the car with hunting rifles lying on their knees. The police concluded that this was a planned suicide. But even more surprise was caused by the fact that Prince Ernst and his wife Sabina decided to voluntarily leave their lives. Although it was not possible to immediately identify them due to the fact that the bodies were severely mutilated.

But no one could understand what pushed the family couple to such a radical step. After all, it seemed that everything was fine with the spouses: they raised four children, led an active social and social life. Ernst was the president of one of the German music communities, Sabina was the head of a local charitable organization. Therefore, many were dumbfounded by the news that the husband and wife decided to commit suicide.

A version immediately appeared that the disastrous financial situation pushed the couple to commit suicide. After all, Ernst suffered losses in business and, moreover, was forced to pay his father's debts. Plus, the couple clearly lived beyond their means. However, the prince's brother said that his relative was a strong man and would still find a way out of this situation. Be that as it may, the cause of the suicide of one of the most prominent couples in Germany could not be found.

Lord Louis Mounbatten, killed in a terrorist attack

Prince Charles, the son of Elizabeth II, was never particularly friendly with his father, but he found a close-minded person in his father's uncle, Lord Louis Mounbatten. The admiral of the British army has always supported his relative.

However, the trouble, as usual, came unexpectedly. In the late summer of 1979, the lord decided to go fishing on his yacht. But as soon as he boarded, an explosion thundered, killing not only Louis himself, but also the mother-in-law of his daughter, grandson and an Irish boy who worked on the ship.

As it turned out, the organizer of the attack was Thomas McMahon, who is a member of the Irish Republican Army. He installed an explosive device on the ship the day before, waited for people to board and activated the mechanism. The killer was given a life sentence, but 19 years later he was released thanks to an agreement between the Irish and British authorities.
