Due to the staging of a play based on the work "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by the famous playwright William Shakespeare, two theater employees in Iran were detained. The reason for their arrest was a violation of the law of a Muslim country, according to which it is unacceptable for a woman to dance when a man is next to her, and such a scene was present in a comedy production.
On the Internet, footage appeared showing how work was carried out to create a performance in which there are actions unacceptable for the Muslim religion. After the video was posted on the Internet by Said Assadi, the theater manager and Mariam Kazemi, the director was detained. The court decided that theatrical workers can be released from custody, but only on condition of posting bail. For each violator of the Iranian law, they asked for a bail of 24 thousand dollars.
In the video, which became the reason for the detention of the theater workers, men and women are dancing. This is a serious violation of the current legislation, which states that a man and a woman cannot dance at the same time, and when they are next to each other.
A Midsummer Night's Dream is one of Shakespeare's most famous works, which tells the story of four lovers whose fates are intertwined with each other. Before the theater manager and director of this production was arrested, the play was shown 7 times.
The Islamic State is not yet ready to abandon their traditions, change legislation under the influence of Western culture. The judicial community and the police constantly monitor that there are no violations, and if there were, then all the perpetrators received appropriate punishment. For example, in the middle of the summer of this 2018, the police detained an Iranian gymnast of eighteen years old, who filmed her dances in her private bedroom and posted this video on the Internet. And in August, law enforcement officers visited one of the parties, where they detained several dozen young people at once. Among the detainees were two girls and four guys who taught Latin American dance to everyone.
Earlier in 2014, teenagers who filmed a video of dancing on the streets of the capital and rooftops in Tehran received a suspended sentence. All the action in the video took place to the song "Happy" by Pharrell Williams.
