Modern golden youth have a funny hobby: after visiting another restaurant or cafe, be sure to take pictures of delicious dishes and share this beauty with friends on social networks. It turns out that the desire to capture food is not alien to … real artists. Tom Martin is a talented hyperrealistdrawing all kinds of salads, snacks, desserts and other goodies. His works are impressive not only by the degree of factuality, but also by their size: each picture is at least a meter wide.
We already wrote about the food diary of David Meldrum, an English artist who prefers to “document” everything he ate. So culinary theme - not uncommon in contemporary art, a kind of passage towards traditional still lifes. True, instead of luxurious flowers and fruits, there is ordinary everyday food. Despite the simplicity of the subject of the image, such paintings are highly appreciated. For example, the price of Tom Martin's work can be up to $ 27,000.
Tom Martin has been surprising the audience with his “delicious” pictures for several years now. The 26-year-old artist from Rotherham (England) creates real masterpieces. He is an adherent of proper nutrition, therefore he most often draws fruits and vegetables, you will not see either pizza or fast food on his canvases. Tom Martin admits that he approaches the issue of nutrition scrupulously: the body must receive a balanced amount of proteins, fats and carbohydrates in order to be healthy. Of course, you can occasionally indulge yourself with toast or marmalade, waffles or ice cream.
The creation of paintings is a very laborious process: it takes about two months for each. Tom Martin uses acrylic paints, he strives to achieve the perfect resemblance so that the viewer can really develop an appetite for one look at the painting. From October 9 to November 2, the work of this outstanding artist will be on display at London's Plus One Gallery.
