A contemporary Hungarian artist named Gyula Varnai (Varnai Gyula) … He is known for his unusual approach to creating sculptures and installations, in his portfolio you can find a lot of original videos, but a very curious work called Now i know … Who is there hiding in a pile of firewood stacked against the wall? Without betraying his creative methods and principles, the Hungarian artist turned to visual deception, arranging wooden blocks in such a way as to "draw" a silhouette of a man on a woodpile with them. From a distance it seems that this is nothing more than the art of wood carving, the so-called carving, but it is worth getting a few meters closer to make sure that this is not the case. The technique chosen by Gyula Varnay is much more complex and requires not only artistic talent, but also luck. It is not easy to find suitable logs to continue drawing.
As you can see, the author is in complete order with luck, talent, imagination and patience. To create a wood-burning installation in the form of a human silhouette, he collected and arranged in a certain order logs of different colors and different shapes, worrying not only about the plot of the art project, but also that this whole structure would not fall apart. As a result, a pile of firewood has every right to be called a masterpiece of modern art, an installation known as "Now I Know".
The installation is large enough, about 15 feet high and 33 feet wide. It was intended for the Hungarian exhibition of contemporary art "What’s Up?", Where visitors saw it for the first time in 2008.
