If Sergei Isupov were an artist, then, perhaps, his works would not have caused so much admiration and would not seem so unusual: after all, we have enough paintings and drawings made in a similar style. But he is a sculptor, and such surrealism is rarely found in sculpture.

The sculptures by Sergei Isupov are unusual both in their form and in content. Quite often, the author endows the works with the features of his own appearance, combines people and animals in one work, paints them with symbolic "tattoos" and allows the viewer to look into the middle of his characters and see what is inside them. Also, Isupov often explores the relationship between a man and a woman, which is why many of his works are decorated with images with overtly sexual content. The author creates his sculptures from clay, and then paints and glazes them, combining colored areas with black and white drawings.

“Art for me is a lifestyle. Everything that surrounds and excites me is automatically processed and transformed into the final result: a work of art. It's an exciting process: watching life turn into art. The essence of my work is in human beings and their incredible diversity. When I think about myself or my works, I am not sure that it is me who creates them: rather, they create me,”says Sergei Isupov.
