I remember that a bust of Taras Shevchenko stood on the cupboard in the Ukrainian language and literature classroom at my school. The shelf with books in the study of the Russian language and literature was decorated with a statue of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. And on the table at the "Englishwoman" was, of course, a plaster of paris William Shakespeare. I don’t know if busts of classics of Russian and foreign literature, playwrights, musicians or famous politicians are now being sold in stores, but some cartoon characters will certainly go down in history thanks to the work of a young American sculptor named Ray lin … His sculptures are busts, and sometimes full-fledged sculptures of the characters of the animated series Futurama. Fans of the animated series, and just connoisseurs of contemporary art, will be pleased: Ray Lin works very carefully, and carefully monitors that his sculptures resemble the originals as much as possible. Therefore, all the clay busts look incredibly realistic - you can see every wrinkle on the face of old Professor Farnsworth, as well as every fold and line of clothing of other "sculptured" characters: Turanga Leela, Zoidberg and Critter.

It is easy to guess that Ray Lin loves Futurama and loves to work with clay, although he has experience and skills in working with wood, ceramics and metal. But clay is much more convenient - it can be processed at home, there is no need to buy expensive equipment and rent a special studio. Clay also seems to be a "warm" material, and this is very important, because despite the fact that all the sculptures are (still) gray in color, they do not look cold and inhospitable.

Yes, the collection of favorite characters of the cool TV series is far from complete, right now Ray Lin is working on the figures of Fry, Brannigan and, possibly, Bender. All of his work can be seen on his personal deviantART page.
