Video: Otherworldly sculptures by Kevin Francis Gray

British sculptor Kevin Francis Gray has a peculiar creativity. Instead of bringing light, positive and warmth to the masses, he awakens in his works the problems, complexes and awkwardness of adolescents, evoking very ambiguous emotions among the contemplators. And the sculptor himself does not have the appearance of an intellectual, but of one of the soldiers of the army of Osama bin Laden.
Sculptures by Kevin Francis are made mainly of bronze and marble, as well as glass beads, beads and other small accessories that are necessary to create a complete image. And the images, I must say, are very specific: skulls, crows, goths and ghosts, children on the graves and gloomy people without a face. There is something otherworldly in them, it seems to me. And the art project is called Voodoo people …
Oddly enough, but with these terrifying sculptures, the author has traveled both coasts of the Atlantic, and everywhere he is greeted as a dear guest and a sought-after specialist. Perhaps true connoisseurs of contemporary art see these monsters a little differently? Or are they so accustomed to shocking that children with cut wrists and ghosts deprived of their faces are not perceived as something unaesthetic and frightening? One way or another, Kevin Francis Gray will appear more than once in our field of vision with new works, most likely as dark as the previous ones.

Otherworldly. Angels and fairies in the work of Anthony Santella (Anthony Santella)
About his work, the author says: "In my work you can see many nuances characteristic of medieval religious painting, British art of the 19th century, fantasy art, as well as modern art, such as book illustrations and drawings for comics." But the artist does not in any way position himself as an adherent of any of these movements - it is simply convenient for him to combine all this in order to create his own unusual paintings, which could be called

"My works are about modern life, in particular about television, world events, celebrities and everyday life" - this is how the British artist Ian Francis describes his work, who, in truth, never had plans to become an artist. The work of the contemporary British sculptor Kevin Francis Gray often provokes heated discussions about what is the true vocation of art: should it give aesthetic pleasure or it is quite possible to do with the creation of eerie, but memorable, images.
