As the photographer Andrew Martila, who specializes in photographing cats, admits, he recently visited the most real paradise on earth - a relatively small shelter where about 600 cats and cats live. The incredibly beautiful nature adds a special exoticism to this place - of course, this shelter is located on one of the Hawaiian Islands!
The fact that Andrew Marttila came specially to this shelter is not surprising: for several years now he has been photographing cats - both domestic and homeless, and last year his photos even became leading in the "Shop Cats of New" York "(" Shop cats of New York "). Andrew really manages to somehow convey the mood and character of the animals in a special way. Perhaps this was one of the reasons why the photographer is often invited to shelters to "advertise" their pets with his photographs, thus helping cats to find their home.
The shelter on Lanai Island also has cats that would not mind living in full care of the owners, but the reality at the moment is that there are much more cats on the island than those who want to have a pet. At some point, there were so many cats that they began to pose a serious danger to local rare species of birds. That is why, in 2004, a small group of enthusiasts led by Katie Carroll began to pick up cats and neuter them for their money.
Over time, Katie managed to found a small animal shelter, and in 2014, thanks to her, an excellent veterinary clinic appeared, in which all types of operations for cats are performed. Today this shelter is supported by donations and contributions from visitors, without any support from the government. It's amazing how much one person can achieve with good intentions.
