Any architect is an artist whose works are not created in two dimensions, but in three dimensions. Here comes the architect Alex Schweder La Is an artist in the truest sense of the word. After all, his work was created precisely to be shown in art galleries and art exhibitions. An example of this - series his installations with the title Performance Architecture.
Different creative people try to show the connection between architecture and chamber art in different ways. For example, the Dutch artist Akko Golenbeld created a device called the Stadsmuziek, which turns the buildings of the city of Eindhoven into music. And the German-Canadian architect Alex Schweider La creates architectural works for art exhibitions and displays.
In this work, Alex Schweider La seeks to visually show the connection between man and architecture, to destroy or blur the boundaries between reality and fantasy, to bring new experience and new understanding of some important things for Humanity into the world.
In his Performance Architecture series, Alex Schweider La shows the influence of humans on architecture and the influence of architecture on humans. For example, in the installation Stability, he created a swing housing for two people. These people are constantly trying to find balance. And they never succeed - one person is now and then at the top, and the other at the bottom and vice versa. This symbolizes the dependence of people on each other when they live in the same apartment or in the same entrance, in the same house.
The installation Snowballing Doorway is an inflatable structure with a very narrow passageway between its two parts. A person trying to squeeze into this gap symbolizes the difficulties that we sometimes experience before getting into this or that room (the house of a loved one, the desired office of some institution).
Alex Schweider La's Counterweight Roommate has something in common with Stability. In this installation, two people are suspended on a single rope on either side of a structure that symbolizes living quarters. When one person wants to go to the kitchen, the other is obliged to go downstairs to the toilet.
The installation Sac Of Rooms Three Times A Day shows the relationship between an architectural blueprint and the actual implementation of this architectural project. This work is a transparent structure in the form of a small residential building. Inside this structure, you can see black lines of varying thickness. These lines symbolize lines in architectural drawings, and each of them is exactly in its real place in a real house.
