In the Ivanovo region, in the village of Lukh, there is a 10-centimeter bronze sculpture depicting a militia from the times of Minin and Pozharsky, RIA Novosti reports. The sculpture can claim to be the smallest monument ever erected in Russia.
Maria Barkovskaya, editor-in-chief of the "Rodnaya Niva" publication, told that the Ivanovo local historians and historians found that during the time of turmoil the first militia was organized on the Ivanovo lands. The command staff of the militia of Minin and Pozharsky consisted of 80-90% of the inhabitants of these places. The prince even chose not a direct route to Moscow through Suzdal, but through the Ivanovo lands.
The bronze monument, which was honored in the memory of the militia of the land of Lukhskaya, was installed with folk funds. The 10-centimeter sculpture stands at the entrance to the ancient fortress in the niche of the gate. Archaeologists consider the remains of an ancient fortress, which is located in the village of Lukh, Ivanovo region, a monument of federal significance "Earthen ramparts of the XV-XVI centuries." And today, not far from the fortress, people find the remains of ancient military uniforms and weapons, ancient coins.
The whole village collected money for street sculpture, for the creation of which casting and artistic metalworking were used. “Our militia soldier is 2 centimeters smaller than the St. Petersburg Chizhik-Pyzhik, who is considered the smallest sculpture installed in Russia,” notes Maria Barkovskaya.
The installation of the monument was initiated by the collective of the regional newspaper "Rodnaya Niva". The author of the bronze monument was Mikhail Smirnov, an editorial staff member, and Valery Ivanov, a deputy of the State Duma from the Ivanovo region, provided assistance in installing the monument.
